NDDB is instrumental in increasing farmers’ income: Radha Mohan Singh

NDDB is instrumental in increasing farmers’ income and creating job opportunities in rural India. This is said by union minister of agriculture and farmers’ welfare Radha Mohan singh while inaugurating farmer orientation program organized by NDDB sponsored Bapudham Milk Producer Company (BMPC) at Champaran, Bihar. Tourism minister of Bihar Pramod kumar, Chairman of NDDB Dilip Rath, MD of NDDB Dairy Services Dr Omveer singh and CEO of BMPC Sandeep ji were present on the occasion. The event focused on educating the dairy farmers on scientific animal rearing practices for improving productivity of milch animals and encourages them to be part of producer-centric organizations. The training sessions were facilitated by experts from NDDB, NDDB Dairy Services and NCDFI.

In his address union minister said, NDDB and its subsidiaries have accepted the challenge livelihood issues of dairy farmers in east and west Champaran districts of Bihar. He informed NDDB Dairy Services a subsidiary of NDDB facilitated the formation and incorporation of Bapudham Milk Producer Company (BMPC) on April 12 last year. BMPC started its operations on 2nd of October 2017 and is working with milk producers of east and west Champaran districts. In past nine months BMPC associated 19000 farmers from 400 villages and achieved a average collection of 30,000 liters per day.

On this occasion chairman NDDB Dilip Rath said, under National Dairy Plan NDDB approved funding of Rs 22 crore to Bapudham Milk Producer Company for establishing village based milk collection system. The company targets of associating 50,000 milk producers with coverage  of 1000 villages and a daily collection of 1.6 lakh liters in next five years.
