All BVSc & AH should get 3000Rs per month stipend during internship: Honnappagol

Pashu Sandesh, 11th February 2019

Recently the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) has decided to increase the Internship allowance  for BVSc & AH students from the existing 400Rs per month to 3000Rs per month starting for the session 2018-19 for the students admitted through All India entrance Exam. However the Commissioner Animal Husbandry GOI, Dr S Honnappagol has pointed out that, this increased stipend should be given to all the BVSc & AH students.

In a letter written to DDG (Edn) ICAR, Dr Honnappagol has praised the ICAR for taking this good decision and also wrote that all the students admitted to the BVSc & AH course should be made eligible for the increased stipend as against the students admitted through All India entrance Exam.

“ As per the revised Minimum standards of Veterinary Education Regulation 2016, the duration of the internship has been extended from six months to one year and is compulsory for all the BVSc & AH students. Hence the internship allowance needs to be Rs 3000 per month per student for a minimum of 12 months duration” wrote the commissioner in his letter.

Pashu Sandesh strongly endorse the view of the commissioner Dr S Honnappagol and expect a favourable reply from the ICAR as the students undergoing the internship should be given same stipend irrespective of the medium of their entrance in the BVSc & AH course. A letter in this regard should also be issued by the Secretary VCI for clear transparency in the approach on the matter of stipend to the BVSc & AH students.
