Convention on Microbiology concluded at BASU, Patna

Patna: The three day long convention-cum-conference on Veterinary Microbiology concluded at Bihar Animal Sciences University at Patna on Wednesday. The vet varsity of the state witnessed more than 250 of scholars, scientist and students from all across the country. The conference intended to bring together the scientist, academicians, research scholars on a common platform for scientific deliberations and interactions about innovative researches in the areas of Veterinary Microbiology, immunology, infectious Diseases and Vaccinology.

Addressing the valedictory session Hon’ble Minister of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries reform, GoB, Pashupati Kumar Paras said that it is very pleased to share with all of you that the state is doing very well in the field of livestock, animal husbandry and fisheries and Bihar Animal Sciences University is always paying its best to unfold the new possibilities by educating and uplifting the farmers and cattlemen’s of the state.  Further, he quoted that the present scenario speaks that the Animal   Husbandary department of the state is being known by its work and the development of the sector. “The recruitment of Veterinary doctors was frozen since long, but very shortly by the month ends, government will hand over the appointed letter to 581 selected candidates” minister added.

V-C of BASU, Patna Dr. Rameshwar Singh thanking the state government, the department minister and secretary said that, the University is rising because of the able guidance, support and co-operation of the government. Dr. Singh stressed on the point that to increase in the productivity of the livestock animals must be healthy, so that the farmers can fetch good income, this will lead to economical growth for the farmers and the nation too. He highlighted on the fact that to get rid of the infectious and other diseases the use of vaccines must be practiced, but the vaccines need storage in refrigerators or cold chains. The Scientist must work to develop the vaccine which remains effective even if kept in room temperature.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. P.K. Uppal, Patron of IAVMI said that Livestock is the life of Bihar State. The total pig population of Bihar ranks 2^nd in India and these needs to be promoted. Adding to the deliberation he said that buyer security and food security must be taken care by the government, also the state can achieve a tremendous height in the sector of Piggery, Poultry, Fisheries, Goat rearing. He also highlighted the need of Surveillance monitoring and one health in the field of Livestock development.

Topics like emerging diseases threats at animal-human-ecosystem interface, Rinderpest eradication revolutionized milk, meat and crop production, Interdisciplinary collaboration required for one health, Future challenges with Indian perspective, Vaccines and Vaccinology, Research on transboundry diseases, zoonotic diseases of public health significance and their management, and various other topics related to veterinary sciences were discussed and presentation were made by the experts and scholars.
