Dr Praveen Malik appointed as Commissioner Animal Husbandry

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet, GOI has approved the appointment of Dr Praveen Malik at the post of Commissioner in the Department of Animal Husbandry under the Ministry of Fisheries, Dairying and Animal Husbandry GOI. His appointment is on deputation (including short-term contract) basis, w.e.f. the date of his assumption of charge of the post and till 08.04.2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Dr Praveen Malik is presently serving as the Director, Chowdhary Charan Singh- National Institute of Animal Health. Dr Praveen Malik, born in 1968, had graduated in Veterinary Science from G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar in 1990. He completed Masters in Veterinary Bacteriology in 1993 and Ph. D. in Veterinary Microbiology in 2003.

Dr Malik has more than 22 years of research experience as a veterinary microbiologist on animal diseases. Out of these, three years he worked on surveillance of diseases in free-ranging wildlife, on a project 'Seroepidemiological studies on some infectious viral and bacterial diseases in wild ungulates in Sariska National Park and Tiger Reserve' at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. 

As Director, CCS NIAH, he is acted as a nodal officer to recommend licensing of veterinary biologicals in the country. He was accountable for management and strengthening of the facilities for quality control of veterinary vaccines and diagnostics and development and recommendation of standards for veterinary biologicals and diagnostics.
