Vets demand PPE kit in Telangana

Pashu Sandesh, 30th June 2020

Following a vet getting infected by coronavirus at a super speciality veterinary hospital at Narayanguda in Hyderabad, the veterinarians of the state have put out a demand for personal protective equipment( PPE) kit. After this incident, the hospital is shut down and the whole staff of this super speciality veterinary hospital have been asked to quarantine themselves at home.

Narayanguda is the second veterinary hospital in Hyderabad which is shut down due to corona infection. Previously covid19 infection was detected in a family member of a staffer posted at a veterinary hospital run by the veterinary university at Rajendra Nagar. After the incidence, the hospital was shut down and the operations resumed after sanitization of the premises.

Vets of state are claiming that they are also front line warriors. As a lot of people are daily visiting the veterinary hospitals, vets are at high risk of exposure to coronavirus. Recently a Vet has lost his life to the disease in Tamil Nadu and the demand for PPE kit for the Vets seems to be fully justified considering the virulent nature of the disease.
