GADVASU get nod for setting up COVID testing Lab & new faculty recruitment

To ramp up the COVID19 testing facility in the state, the Punjab Government has approved setting up of 4 new labs. Out of these 4 new labs one would be opened at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University (GADVASU). The present testing capacity in the state is around 9000 per day which would be ramped up to 13000 test per day after the addition of new labs. The required staff to man these new labs would also be recruited.

Punjab Government has also approved the recruitment of faculties for the Bhatinda Veterinary College to meet the requirement of the norms laid down by the VCI. There would be the appointment of Dean, 17 Professors and 25 Associate Professors on a regular basis by the academic year 2022-23.

GADVASU of late has been the epicentre of a lot of activities since the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor Dr Inderjeet Singh. Dr Singh, a former Director of the CIRB and the Director of Punjab Animal Husbandry Department, has brought to the table his vast experience in the Academics, Research and the Administration. There has been a long pending demand of the recruitment of the faculty in the Vet Colleges to meet the standards. Finally, demand is fulfilled.

Speaking to Pashu Sandesh, Dr Inderjeet Singh expressed satisfaction on the recruitment of the Faculty for the Bhatinda Vet College on regular pay and allowances. Dr Singh also informed that the GADVASU has been recently given the custody of High yield imported Pigs meant for the Pig Research Center due to the spread of swine flu in the North East. The GADVASU has been chosen keeping in mind the technical prowess of the University in handling the imported Animals which are also happen to be very costly.
