Amul Dairy paid highest procurement price of milk in the country in 2017-18

The Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (KDCMPUL) which is popularly known as Amul Dairy had organised its 72nd annual general body meeting(AGM) on Saturday 30th of june at its headquarter in Anand. In the meeting it was informed that in financial year 2017-18, Amul Dairy paid highest milk procurement price in the country to its members.

Amul Dairy’s chairman Ramsinh Parmar said that in financial year 2017-18 Amul dairy paid Rs 783 per kilo fat as procurement price to its members, which is highest not only in Gujarat but also across the whole country.

The average procurement price paid by member unions of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) – the apex marketing body of all the 18 district dairy unions of Gujarat is Rs 710 per kilo fat which is far less then Rs 783 per kilo fat given by Kaira union.

Chairman Parmar said that in the last seven years, both the price paid to farmers and milk procured from them has doubled, at the same time the dairy’s turnover has tripled during this period. He said in year 2010-11, Amul Dairy was paying Rs 310 per kilo fat which has increased to Rs 783 per kilo fat in year 2017-18. Similarly, in 2010-11 the milk procurement at Amul Dairy was 15 lakh litres per day which has increased to 30 lakh litres per day in the financial year 2017-18. Amul dairy has recorded an annual turnover of Rs 6,256 crore in financial year 2017-18 with a growth of 10% growth in its turnover compared to previous year when it was Rs 5,700 crore.

Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (KDCMPUL) oldest milk co-operative of the country presently have seven lakh farmers as its members and 1,200 village level milk societies spread in Anand and Kheda districts of Guajrat.
