Workshop on oncology and transfusion Medicine in Canines

Pashu Sandesh, 06th March 2019

A three day National workshop on Oncology and Transfusion Medicine in Canines is being organised at Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Science University (TANUVAS) from 20th to 22nd March 2019.

The incidence of tumours in dogs varies with its type and is a challenge for veterinarians in developing countries to diagnose and treat the cancer in pet animals in early stage. Transfusion medicine is also the mainstay of treatment of animals with disorders of homeostasis. The basis of transfusion medicine is the component therapy. Blood components are under-utilized in veterinary medicine, however, these products are expensive and sometimes not readily available for use in the event of emergency. Hence, it is mandatory to have immense knowledge on these aspects and this workshop will provide the updates on the advancements in canine oncology and transfusion medicine.

OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP

  • To update newer concepts of oncology and transfusion medicine in canines.
  • To impart hands on skills for diagnostics and therapeutic intervention to cancer medicine.
