Glimpses 2022: Ministry of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (part 2)

  1. For the first time in the world, whole genome sequencing and genomic chip for DNA-based selection of buffalos have been developed with funding under Rashtriya Gokul Mission. This has led to a 2.5% higher genetic gain among the buffalo population in a sustainable manner.
  2. A Joint Declaration of intent has been signed between the Ministry of Fisheries Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Kingdom of Denmark for cooperation in the field of Animal Husbandry & Dairying on 2nd May 2022 in Copenhagen Denmark.
  3. 14 new projects in 7 States were approved under National Program for Dairy Development scheme from January 2022 to November 2022 (As of 21st Nov’22) at a total outlay of Rs. 355.25 crores (Central Share Rs.244.14 crore).
  4. So Far, a total of 23.70 lahks fresh Kisan Credit Cards have been sanctioned for AHD Farmers in the country
  5. MoFAHD participated in International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS), 2022 organized at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida.
  6. Shri Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying launched the PMMSY MIS dashboard on 7th June 2022 under the purview of the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying. The PMMSY MIS dashboard aims at (i) effectively monitoring the PMMSY scheme activities and their progress in all participating States/UTs and (ii) strategically utilising the information for informed decision-making.
  7. Under the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ a total of 9 webinars were organised by the Dept of Fisheries which were attended by more than 6000 participants, including fish, fish farmers, entrepreneurs, students, research organisations along with officials from the centre and states/UTs.
