Shamalbhai Patel re-elected as chairman of Amul

Shamalbhai Patel is unanimously elected as chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative milk marketing federation (GCMFF), which markets its products under the brand name Amul. GCMMF has thus maintained its glorious tradition of the unanimous election of its chairman since its inception in 1973. GCMMF with its headquarters at Anand is a federation of 18 member milk unions overlaying 33 districts of Gujarat.

The election was conducted on January 24, 2023, under the supervision of the deputy collector of Anand, in which chairmen of 17 out of 18 district milk unions were present. Shamalbhai Patel's name was proposed by Ashok Chaudhary, chairman of Dugdhsagar Dairy Mehsana. It was supported by Ramsinh Parmar, chairman of Kaira Milk Union and members of other unions of GCMMF. Shayamlbhai Patel is also the chairman of Sabarkantha milk union, Himatnagar. 

After being re-elected, Shamal Patel said it is a matter of great honour to lead an institution Verghese Kurien founded.
