In order to remain competitive Bihar State Milk Cooperative Federation (COMFED) must maintain quality of its milk products to compete with the market leaders. This was said by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday while inaugurating altogether six plants of COMFED having total value of Rs 144.67 crore on occasion of its 35th foundation day. COMFED sell its milk products under the brand name SUDHA. Nitish Kumar was apparently pointing toward AMUL when he referred the competition with the market leader.

Nitish said the credibility of Sudha brand has reached today to many states crossing the boundary of Bihar. “Even a small lapse in any sector of production will demolish your credibility within moments. I, therefore, alert you to maintain quality of all ‘Sudha’ products at any cost. There should not be even a minor lapse at any level,” CM told the COMFED officials and representatives of different milk unions attending the function.

CM also announced a subsidy of Rs 2 per kg on Sudha dana (cattle feed) during the months of May to July for milk producers of different milk cooperative societies. He said, as per an estimate, the state government would spend Rs 16 crore this year on the subsidy.

The CM inaugurated six plants having a total investment of Rs 144.67 crore which includes one lakh litre dairy plant at Supaul, two milk powder plants of 30 metric tons per day capacity at Samastipur and Hajipur, two ice-cream plants of 20,000 liters each at Patna and Biharsharif and one new unit of cattle feed plant of 300 metric tons per day in Patna.
