Haryana became pioneer in launching “GOBAR-Dhan” scheme

Haryana CM Manoharlal Khattar launched the GOBAR-Dhan scheme at a function at NDRI Karnal today. This scheme is aimed at the utilization of cow dung and agri waste as source of green energy, by converting it into Bio Gas and Fertilizer. GOBAR stands for “Galvanizing Organic Bio Agro Resources”. GOBAR-Dhan scheme is to be implemented across all the states. 

CM Khattar while launching the program thanked PM Narendra Modi for providing opportunity to Haryana to be the pioneer in launching this scheme on the auspicious day of Buddh Poornima. He stressed on the fact that Haryana has over 450 Goushalas which are housing around 3 lakh 41 thousand Livestock. The waste produced by these animals has the enormous potential for providing green energy in the form of Bio gas and fertilizer.

Haryana Government would be establishing Bio Gas plants and Methane Digesters as part of the implementation of the GOBAR-Dhan scheme and would also support the Panchayats for constructing the same.

Central Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Uma Bharti, and minister of state from the same ministry S S Ahluwalia were also present during the function apart from Scientists and representative from 14 states.

The GOBAR-Dhan scheme was first announced by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in his 2018 Budget speech. PM Narendra Modi on many occassions including Mann Ki Baat Radio program has mentioned about the importance and implementation of GOBAR-Dhan scheme.
