Another Vet loses life due to CORONA virus

The country is now undergoing unlocking phase amid the COVID crises, but the cases like this make us rethink and cast gloom in the fight against the virus. Dr Mathew C John a prominent Veterinarian lost his battle against CORONA virus in Chennai yesterday. Recently another Tamil Nadu Vet Dr Kalaiselvan has lost his life due to CORONA. Dr Mathew was admitted in the hospital a week ago following testing positive for CORONA. Dr Mathew is survived by his wife and a daughter. 

Dr Mathew C John an MVSc and PhD was a retired Professor & Head of the Department of Wildlife Science, Madras Veterinary College TANUVAS Chennai. An eminent Veterinarian, Dr Mathew served in various academic committees and was the founder member of Madras Canine Club. He was also a life member of Kennel Club of India and was a regular contributor to the Indian Kennel Gazette, an official publication of the Kennel Club of India. He was also a member of WWF- Nature India, Chennai Naturalists Society and Zoo outreach organisation of the Central Government under the Ministry of Environment and Forest and was also a member of Central Zoo Authority of India.

Dr Mathew C John was a prominent judge at the Dog shows organised by the Kennel Club of India. He also judged Dog shows in Sri Lanka and Australia. He not only judged the shows but also provided the professional advice to the Canine breeders. 

While working at the Madras Veterinary College, Dr Mathew was instrumental in developing the wildlife faculty of the college. He was also an excellent photographer. Many remember him as a friend and a humble soul. Students fondly remember him holding grand MVC wildlife week celebrations, seminars and competitions.
