Kisan Credit Card to boost Animal Husbandry in Modi Sarkar 2.0

Pashu Sandesh, 05 July 2019

In a landmark decision, the Central Government has extended the benefits of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) benefits to the Farmers engaged in Animal Husbandry (AH) and Fishery. An Operational Guidelines on the extension KCC benefits to the farmers during the period 2018-2019 was issued on 12th June 2019 by the Government to the Reserve Bank of India and NABARD.

A separate KCC will be provided to the Farmers for Animal Husbandry other than the KCC for the Agriculture. KCC will be provided at a concessional rate of 7% per annum during the years 2018-19 and 2019-20.

Farmers availing the KCC credit scheme would be eligible for a Rs 3 lakh credit to let out the capital requirement. Interest subvention (an amount of money given by the government as a grant) would be available for the Farmers engaged in AH and Fishery at the rate of 2% per annum at the time of disbursement of loan and additional subvention of 3% per annum in case of prompt repayment.

The present government has realised the potential of the Animal Husbandry sector and Fishery at par with Agriculture sector in doubling the income of farmers and the extension of the benefits of KCC to the Farmers involved in the Animal Husbandry is the testimonial of the commitment of the Government for the same.
