Average annual growth rate of 7.64%  in Animal Husbandry sector in last five years

The average annual growth rate of fisheries, animal husbandry and dairy sectors was registered at 8.89%, 7.64% and 6.20% respectively during the period of five years from 2016-17 to 2020-21. This reply was given by the minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala in the Lok Sabha in a response to an unstarred question.

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India through various schemes have been complementing and supplementing the efforts of the State Governments/Union Territories (UTs) for the promotion and development of animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries sectors and in achieving the sustained and higher growth in these sectors. The central funds under various demand-driven Central Sectors/ Centrally Sponsored Schemes are released based on the viable proposals received from the States/UTs. Further, review meetings, workshops, seminars, training, and awareness/ outreach programs are also conducted regularly at the National and Regional levels to promote the fisheries and animal husbandry sectors in the country and also to ensure speedy implementation of the schemes.
