PASHU AADHAR issued under NAIP scheme gaining momentum

As per the “Information Network for Animal Production and Health” (INAPH) database 18.87 crore animals have been identified using 12 digit polyurethane tags and their information is uploaded on the INAPH database. As per the INAPH database, 2.06 crore cattle and buffaloes have been covered under Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme. This information was provided by the Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala in the Rajya Sabha.

Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme is active in 597 districts across 29 States and Union Territories. A sum of Rs.422.35 crore has been released for implementation of the Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme and so far Rs.153.84 crore has been utilised by the States and Union Territories. By far the Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of tagged animals at 26,31,776, followed by Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. 

INAPH maintains classification of data based on the type of cattle (breed, sex, age, lactation No, pedigree etc). As of date, 12.09 crore cattle have been registered out of 18.87 crore total animals registered so far on the INAPH database.
