Shamal Patel elected as the new chief of Amul

Chairman of Sabarkantha District Co-operative Milk Producers Union, Shamal Patel has been unanimously elected as the new chairman of Gujarat co-operative milk marketing federation (GCMMF) which markets its products under the name of Amul. He will take the charge from Ram Singh Parmar. Sarhad dairy chairman Valamji Humbal has been unanimously elected for the post of vice president of GCMMF. The elections were conducted at Anand on Thursday in the presence of chairmen of all the 18 member unions of GCMMF.

Shamal Patel's name was proposed by Ram Singh Parmar the outgoing chairman and chairman of Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers Union and supported by Shanker Chaudhary, chairman of Banaskantha District Co-operative Milk Producers Union. Valamji Humbals name was proposed by Jetha Bhai Bharwad chairman Panchmahal dairy and supported by Mohan Bharwad chairman of Ahmedabad dairy union.

It is said that Shamal Patel's selection is made on the basis of performance of Sabar Dairy in the last financial year.in the last financial year, Sabar Dairy has recorded a turnover of Rs 5,700 crore and membership of 3.8 lakh milk producers.
