Dr O P CHAUDHARY HAS TAKEN OVER CHARGE AS CHAIRMAN AWBI

Dr O.P. Chaudhary, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare has taken over charge as Chairman of the Animal Welfare Board of India(AWBI) on 23rd May 2019 as per the Gadget of India Extraordinary Part-II -Sec.-3,(ii) notification dated 21st May 2019 -S.O.1795(E). After resignation of  Shri S.P. Gupta, IAS ( Retd.), The Board functioning was without head and the government has made such arrangement as par provisions stated under Subsection (1) of Section 4 and Subsection(1)of Section 5-A of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,1960(59 of 1960). Therefore, the Central Government has nominated the Joint Secretary as  Chairman, AWBI from the date of notification to till further order in terms of under Section 5(3)3 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 in the place of Shri S.P. Gupta IAS(Retd).

Dr O. P. Chaudhary is an IFS officer,1989 batch of Madhya Pradesh cadre. He is a highly qualified environmental engineer turned as a most dedicated and committed bureaucrat with the passion for environmental conservation and sustainable development. He did M. Tech. from IIT, Roorkee; one Year General Management Programme for Executive from IIM, Lucknow (UP)and Doctorate in Finance Management from Symbiosis International University, Pune, Maharashtra. He also has credit for various technical and scientific publication and also very good orator/presenter.

Dr Choudhary is the recipient of many honours and awards for his outstanding contribution in the area of public administration. He widely travelled abroad and represented the country in connection with special assignments. Also headed and supervised National Schemes at various platforms.He worked in a various capacity like Chief Conservator of Forest(CCF), MP; Regional Provident Fund Commissioner(RPFC), Govt. of India and Vice-Chancellor, Singhania University, Rajasthan. Currently working as Joint Secretary (National Livestock Mission & Animal Welfare) with Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India. Dr Chaudhary is a very popular, kindhearted, disciplined and very simple person having a determination for quantity and quality performance.

The AWBI Secretary, Dr Neelam Bala greeted him on behalf of the AWBI Members, staff, animal lovers, animal Welfare Organizations and Animal Welfare Activists, are very happy to know this appointment and conveyed their greeting to prove various landmarks and milestones in the field of animal welfare mission.
