IVA Conference on Emerging Challenges in the Veterinary Profession concluded

Indian Veterinary Association (IVA) concluded its first revival International conference on Emerging Challenges in Veterinary Profession at NASC Complex, New Delhi. The conference was held on 26-27 July 2019. Tarun Shridhar secretary of ministry of department of animal husbandry, Government of India inaugurated the conference as chief guest. Professional experts across the world gathered at a common platform to share their view to improve veterinary services in the country. Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Minister of State (MoS) for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries attended the final day session of the conference and he stressed upon the role of the veterinarian for financial up-gradation of farmers of the country. He also explored the vision of his Ministry and assure every assistance to IVA for the noble cause of animal welfare. 

Dr Chirantan Kadian, President IVA conveyed the gratitude of Veterinary professionals to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishing a separate ministry for animal husbandry. IVA President also showed his willingness to coordinate research work and field practicability through IVA platform. Dr Praveen Malik, Animal Husbandry Commissioner to GOI focused on doorstep delivery of Veterinary services. Sunil Mansinghka, member Kamdhenu Ayog and Badri Narayan Chaudhary, General Secretary, Bhartiya Kisan Sangh also being invited to this conference where they shared their ideology on this platform. 

Delegates from Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, UP, Himachal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim, Punjab, Delhi and Haryana participated in the event with great zeal and fervour.  A lot of issues of current concern about rapidly evolving AMR, Diseases of Zoonotic Importance, Role of Ethno Veterinary Practices in the current scenario,  Nutrition & Care and  Climatic Change with special reference to the Livestock were raised and discussed at length.

Appreciations & encouragement by Tarun Sridhar IAS, Hon. Secretary to GOI, AHD & F and Dr Gulati  IAS, ACS, AH & D, Haryana for contributions and role of the Vets in Nation-building were highly invigorating. 

Dr Peter Thornber, President, The Commonwealth Veterinary Association, Dr Abdul Rehman, World Veterinary Association, Dr C Balachandran VC TANUVAS, Chennai and others remained present as prominent professional experts in the conference.
