OMFED launches 'Dairy Express'

The chief minister of Odisa Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday flagged off a fleet of 10 “OMFED Dairy Express” vehicles. These vans will market the products of OMFED (Odisa Milk Fedration) in the state capital Bhubaneswar and will deliver the products of state milk federation in 67 wards of the city.

On this occasion OMFED officials informed that, initially the operation is started with ten vehicles but in future we will increase the number of vehicles to 50 and other cities like Cuttack, Sambalpur, Puri and Berhampur will also be covered under this scheme.

“OMFED Dairy Express” vehicles will carry different food products like sweetened flavoured milk, sweet curd, plain curd, lassi, butter-milk, chena-peda, paneer, rabdi table butter, peda, khoa, rasagulla, gulab jamun and different variety of ice creams. These products will be directly marketed to the customers through OMFED-appointed vendors.

The state government has decided to sanction Rs 1 crore for the project under Rashtriya Krushi Vikas Yojana (RKVY).
