Muslim Gausewak conferred Padmshree on 26th January

Normally when we hear of a Gausewak, the first picture comes to mind is a of right wing person but this year a Muslim Gausewak won the Padam shree award on the Republic day for his love and compassion for Cows. Shabbir Sayyed from Maharashtra was awarded Padam shree for his exemplary social service and protection of Cows.

58 years old Sayyed Shabbir belong to family of butchers who left their family business and for the last 50 years have dedicated themselves in the protection and conservation of cows. Hailing from water deficient Shirur Kasar taluka of Beed District in Maharashtra, Shabbir has presently 165 cows and for him the main source of family income is sale of Milk and cow dung. He never sold his cows and sell bulls only to Farmers after obtaining written statement that the sold bull would not be sent to abattoir. Whole family of Shabbir help him out in this noble venture.

This year 112 Padam awards were announced by the President Ramnath Kovind on the eve of the 70th Republic day on 25th January. Out of 112 awards 4 awards were given as Padam Vibhusahan, 14 Padam bhushan and 94 Padam Shree to the eminent persons from the field of Science, Medicine, Arts, literature,Entertainment,Social service , etc.
