Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has directed to accelerate the construction of one thousand Gou-Shalas in the state and to complete them within the time limit at any cost. He said that the accountability of the concerned departments should be fixed and it should also be reviewed from time to time. The Chief Minister mentioned that there is a target to build 3 thousand Gou-Shalas in the state during the next year. In this regard, complete planning, selection of construction sites and all the procedures should be completed by December 2019. Kamal Nath was reviewing the ‘Project Gou-Shala’ at Mantralaya on 11 October. The campaign being conducted by the government to protect abandoned cows and stray cows were named as ‘Mukhya Mantri Gou-Seva Yojana’ in the meeting.
Chief Minister stated that the problems being faced by the common man due to the abandoned cows and stray animals should be resolved on priority. He said that problems in the construction of Gou-Shalas should be brought to his notice so that they could be addressed immediately. No lack of funds should hamper the construction. Shri Kamal Nath stressed on the need for better coordination between Rural Development department, entrusted with a task for building and operating Gou-Shalas and Animal Husbandry Department so that all the work could be done with fast pace and without any hindrance. The Chief Minister sought the information about the construction of Gou-Shalas and initiative taken by the private sector for cow protection. Kamal Nath gave his consent for using the fund of fodder given to the Animal Husbandry department by the Mandi Board, in other activities of cow protection.
The Minister for Animal Husbandry Lakhan Singh Yadav, Minister for Urban Development and Housing Jaivardhan Singh, Chief Secretary S.R. Mohanty, Additional Chief Secretary Forest A.P. Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Gouri Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Animal Husbandry Manoj Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Anurag Jain and Commissioner Urban Development P. Narhari and other officers, were present at the meeting.
