DR. PRAKASH, TEAM MEMBER AND CONTRIBUTOR OF OSCAR AWARD-WINNING SHORT FILM AND OTHERS HONORED

World Veterinary Day 2023 was celebrated at Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal on 28.04.2023. Dr G.A. Balasubramaniam, PhD, Vice-President, Students’ Association and Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Pathology, VCRI, Namakkal welcomed the gathering. Dr. M. Selvaraju, Dean, VCRI, Namakkal presided over the programme and delivered a presidential address.
In his speech he highlighted the historical development of veterinary medicine and its contribution to the welfare of mankind.Dr.P. Dhanapalan, Former Director of Clinics and Controller of Examinations, at Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University as Chief Guest of the programme, delivered an address and distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions held on the occasion of World Veterinary Day 2023. Dr Dhanapalan recalled his memories associated with VCRI, Namakkal in his address and stressed the importance of handling various modern diagnostic tools and equipment for confirmatory diagnosis and treatment of livestock and pet animals in field conditions.
On the occasion, Dr. K.S. Palaniswami, Former Director of Research, TANUVAS and Dr S. Bhaskar, Regional Joint Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, Namakkal delivered a felicitation address. In their speech, they highlighted the speciality of veterinary medicine and encouraged the students to take up All India-level competitive exams and excel in their careers. Retired Professors of TANUVAS, Dr N. Rajendran, Dr M.R. Purushothaman, Dr S. Murugesan, Dr K. Balasundaram and Dr S. Ayyappan, Retired Officials of the State Animal Husbandry Department and Aavin Dr P. Gunasekaran and Dr C. Pandian were invited and honoured during the occasion.
World Para badminton Champion and student of VCRI, Namakkal Ms M.Thulasimathi and Dr Prakash, Forest Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Hosur and contributor of Oscar Award-winning short film on elephants were honoured for their service and achievements. Final Year Student Representative Selvan S. Vigneswara proposed a vote of thanks. All the students and staff of VCRI, Namakkal participated in the programme.
