Veterinary Council of India (VCI) counselling for the 15% All India quota BVSc seats in the Veterinary Colleges has been postponed till further notice. VCI in a circular dated 30 June 2019 had published the schedule for the counselling for the All India seats which was scheduled to start from 04 July 2019. The Counselling was to be conducted by the way of NEET(UG) merit list for the academic session 2019-20.
VCI has cited technical reasons for the postponement of the Counselling. This is the only information available on the VCI website. At Pashu Sandesh we have time and again raised the issue of an almost non-functional VCI which is proving to be highly demoralising for the present and future Vets.
For the realisation of a vibrant Animal Husbandry sector, India would be requiring a strong contribution from the Vets who would provide their services both toward a healthy and productive Animal as well as the creation of an environment of innovation and Veterinary research. Only a strong VCI could ensure the quality of Veterinary education in the country.
